diy rail system?

I've been searching around here for a DIY rail system but couldn't find any threads regarding it. I'm about to make the purchase on a 35mm adapter but decided to wait to see if I could find plans for the rail system as opposed to buying one. Does anyone know of any plans?

While I was looking at this idea, I learned about the indysnap lightweight, lens-mounted mattebox & decided I didn't actually need rods, nor want to buy a telephoto lens support for my DIY 35mm adapter.

So I rigged a plastic plate & velcro strap to hold the adapter to the camera. It's small, light & unobtrusive, so I can handhold easily, or slap it quickly onto a tripod.
