Can I make a SATA II Raid Storage with just a controller card, ie. .

I'm pretty sure you'll need an OS installed. Nothing fancy, just to let you write to the drives.

If you're using it for backup storage, just you gigabyte ethernet and set it up in the local area network and dump your files to it.
