DIY protective screen for open face tungsten fixture?

I have several old and discontinued open face tungsten lights. These units don't have the now standard wire guard like on current production Arrilite (for example). Any advice on specific material to use for fashioning a protective screen? Or something very close to what Arri uses in their single scrims?

Why not just use a single scrim as your wire guard? Unless you are streteched for output, seems like the path of least resistance and hassle.

Forgot to mention: these fixtures have no barn doors or accessory holders. Buying a large scrim and cutting down to size is definitely an option though.

We use open faces all the time without protective screens, you should be fine. The only time you need to show care is when pointing them straight up, where something could potentially fall into the unit and cook itself on the globe.

Not true. Depending on the type of fixture and bulb. I have seen t4's explode in soft light fixtures sending out shards of hot glass if they didn't have protective screens installed.
