DIY Projects I'm working on

I saw in a post in the 7D forum a cool link to cheesycam... so I've started a few projects.

I got a $10 skateboard to do the spidertrax dolly... need to order the cheeseplate but might just go with wood.

I ordered the spark plug wire holders to make a shoulder rig... trying to source AL rods otherwise I'll try and get some tent poles

and lastly, I picked up the parts to make the fig rig

got everything but the bicycle grips... i've been to two targets and haven't seen grips at either one. Anybody have any ideas for cheap grips in Socal or should I just bite the bullet and order online?

Regarding the fig rig... I got 10' of allthread, 10' of 3/4" conduit, and 10' of the strut channel. Should be able to make a few extras.

Found my handlebar grips at Sport Chalet.

Used my miter saw with a metal blade to make short work of the long pieces. Will post a pic as soon as the paint dries and I can assemble it.

Where did you find the plans for the spidertrax dolly? I cant find it anywhere .. any help would be appreciated. I want to try that asap.

I'm also gonna tackle the 'johan' rig for my T2i. Post pics of yours when its done.

It's on the cheesycam site. I went to Target and found the $10 skateboard, and I found the $10 wheel/bearing upgrade (the ones on the skateboard are pretty bad) so hopefully they're worth it. Now I'm debating a couple of things before I build mine:
1) Do I want to build a wood rig for it, or use the aluminum cheese plate that's $15 from B&H (and a special order item). Would be nice to find an alternative that could be had easier/cheaper.
2) If I build a wood rig, do I want to make it's lower to the ground

I also need to find a cheap way to mount my quick releases to all these new gadgets. It would be lame to have to buy a bunch of $50 mounts for this stuff.

I've got my fig rig together... still need to get the camera mount figured out. Man getting the stupid grips on the pipe is the worst part. Blistered my hand working them on. One of them is kinda squished... I'm hoping it will stretch out on it's own.

Where do you see a $15 cheese plate?
