DIY follow focus for Canon 50mm f/1.8 II? ideas?

I'm in the process of making myself a complete DIY setup. I'm going to be using the "nifty 50" with my 35mm adapter and I'm trying to figure out how to make myself a follow focus. The issue is mostly with the beveled focus ring... I don't know how to make the FF grip the ring. I'm not buying rings or anything to put on the lens and I'm trying to figure out how to make this work.

Has anyone made a FF for this lens? Any tips, ideas, etc?

there is probably a gear out there that will mesh with the threads on one, if you can find a gears r us or something where you can go in and fidget around with a bunch (hobby shop?) you might be able to find one. A friction follow focus might work as well.

yeah right now I have a friction follow focus made of legos and rubber bands haha. pretty sketchy but works for now. I'm gonna go to a hobby shop sometime soon probably and see if I can find anything better

If you check out the gearless follow focus that Ted Ramasola(?) made in the DIY section page 6 or something, that would work fine if you have a rail system. And as JAWflyer3 states, you can simply put a rubber band(elastic if you're Canadian) on the lens ring, and you'll have great friction!

This is my little 'monster'. DIY mattebox and follow focus. Using anamorphic lenses and magic lantern can reach 2K resolution 2048x1080
