Also posted this in the sfx thread - wasn't sure which place waz best so I did both.

Anywho, I need some ideas for a homemade fogger, one that will put out a lot fog for an outdoor shot where no power is available...

I've heard you can make one out of a mosquito fogger, but I can't find out how... any ideas would be mucho appreciated!

One idea I can think of right off the top of my head is a compressed air tank...most foggers/smokers I've seen have an electric pump to push air to power the fogger/smoker. So you could disconnect the pump, and just put in a line from a compressed air tank.

I have used propane mosquito foggers many times while on remote shoots. They work great. In fact in the video for the making of "Empire of the Sun" there is a great clip of Spielberg using a propane fogger. you can find what you are looking for here:

Just use regular Roscoe fog juice or in a pinch mineral oil from the local pharmacy will work fine.

Good Luck!

For outdoor, I just used a camo smoke bomb for .99 cents
They're huge, uncontrollable, and fun...filled up a whole alley with lotsa smoke
Someone thought there was a fire...
