Hi to my fellow DIY's,
As I said in the newbie section. I've been out of the game a little, but I'm back to with a vengeance and I want to build some DIY stuff. :cheesy:
I've noticed a few of the links in the sticky at the top are dead. ;-(
In no particular order, I'm looking to build
1. A Dolly
2. Fig rig
3. Square rig
4. Shoulder mount
5. Back pack mount.
6. Kit bag, for my sound mixer/cables
7. More stuff I can't think of.
Ideas for a dolly, (i'd appreciate it, if anyone has pictures of the items. as I've had to use google)
I'm in the process of scrapping a Trampoline. The top section of the frame, is a giant circle. Looks like it could be used for curved dolly track??? The one i have, the tubes slot into one another, there is no square bracket on the top ,holding it.

The upright section, between the ground and circle section are about 3 foot high. Ideally for making track?? They are light, galavanised. And you can use splice locks to lock them together??

Ideas for a Fig rig,
Lots and lots of people use plastic to make their Fig rig, but what is common and cheap, and a circle.

You would of course, need a steel wheel. You have a number of sizes
20, 24, 26 inch.
A plate could be welded across, to mount the camera. You'd have to cut/remove the spokes obviously. And you'd need to make a smooth handle for the outside of the rim of the wheel. As its ridged.
I also have springs from the trampoline and I was hoping to use these, to make a backpack cam mount. Not sure on how yet. I do think this is a viable option for a fig rig. I'm going to be making mine over the next couple of weeks, need to source some wheels. I've a few 20 inch wheels, I could use, for small cameras. Not sure how big the original fig rigs are??
These are ideas, so not looking for criticism.
thanks
Andy
