DIY elevated dolly track for use with cinemover?

Hello gentlemen,


I would like to build a track for the cinemover that I bought.

What I want is a two rail system that I can attach to tripods for use on uneven ground..for instance in a forest.

I was wondering if anyone had advice on how to build one or had come across a tutorial.

Most of the DIY tutorials tend to be for dolly tracks on the floor. I want something I can mount between a couple of tripods.

I have been trying to think of something similar. The easiest and most cost effective idea so far is to just mount a metal base plate to a two pvc pipe track. Drill a 1/4' hole in each of the base plates and attach to adjustable light stands/tripod.

Talk to 1968cam about his dolly. It looks like he used steel pipes. PVC would be too flexible. Aluminum could work if the track isn't too long.

Speedrail and fittings. PVC will sag. You can build about anything with speedrail and cut the pipes with a chop saw.

I built my own version of the cine over style dolly and purchased the rigwheels stand adapters and buy metal tube from Home Depot as needed. I use impact lowboy stands and combo stands with an adjustable leg for higher stuff.
