DIY DVX Wide Angle Lens...

The gentleman that wrote the article is clever and if you are into DIY and need something on the cheap, this should work. His statements about what Century units do and dont do are incorrect and misleading, but I do not think it is intentional, and he seems to be lumping characteristics of several of our products into one, but that is speculation, I am not a mind reader.

Good luck, tell everyone how it turns out.

this seems like a good idea for the DIyourselfer. I dont believe that you will get as good of image quality as you could from "century optics" and if you were to show up on a commercial shoot with that you may get laughed back home. if you need to get it right and looking great you should definetly buy real glass. save the DIY for the jibs an lights and grip stuff. When it comes to getting the image into the camera you should NEVER compromise. but....that's just me

It is a nice idea, but I would have to agree there are more effective places to concentrate your DIY efforts. Even with the Century .6x, there is noticable softness around the edges when you are zoomed all the way out, and the Century .6 is a HUGE chunk of glass.

This is a great hack. Thanks for sharing.

The softness is negligible, I think. Even for some professional work. Just take a cue from all the 35mm adapters; they add softness, but the "look" is there. Same thing here.
