DIY dolly handle

i'm not trying to cheat rowecine out of business here, but i just finished building my dolly i bought from them and was trying to save myself some money on building a handle for the dolly. i've searched and searched on here but haven't found any complete plans or pictures of a good DIY handle. i spent 2 hours today at Lowes contemplating what i'm going to use and how to use it, but before i spend any money i wanted to see if anyone on here had any good ideas/plans

What John said. Use plumbing pipe with a floor flange for the base. Long pipe up to a T-join with two smaller pipes coming off the T for the hand grips. That's the easiest way to do it, but if you want it to tilt, you'll have to go with something else. Also, if you do this, clean the pipe with acetone first. And wear gloves.

Here are a couple shots of the handle I put together for mine using 1/2" steel pipe. Flange screwed to base, small nipple screwed tight into flange, 45 loose on nipple. The handle is (3' I believe) steel pipe that ends into a T with longer nipples and end caps for the hand grips. I take the handle off from the 14 (leave the 45 attached to the dolly) for travel and storage. When ready to use, thread the handle into the 45. Also by leaving the 45 loose (or just not tight) you can swivel the handle around to either side if you need.

i ended up going with the pipe with the T on the end and am in the process of making a swiveling connector to the dolly. i'll try to post a pic of it tomorrow if anyone is interested

If only all that pipe wasn't so frickin' heavy. I suppose it helps for a smoother shot -- at least that's what I tell myself when I'm lugging it around.
