Hi all..
been reading on the DIY 35mm adaptors..
very interested to build one for my HVX..

i am looking at the design of this
http://www.jetsetmodels.info/pics/hvx200.jpg
from jets model..
Any user comments on the setup who had used this design?

And i'm tied over the choice of the achromat...
i found the Marumi achromat +5 macro lens on ebay. quite reasonably priced..
any user comments?

I know the best would be the Cinevate or SGpro glasses... but i dont have the budget to get these good glass..

Can i stack the achromat +5 with other macro filters like the hoya +4, +2, +1, to achieve the relevant magnification? or just +5 will do?

This is pretty much a straight forward design, nothing too complicated about it. Your main concern should be that the GG is 100% parallel to the lens & camera. If you're planning on using the Canon screens, be aware of a few conditions. They have a nice look to them when stopped at faster speeds, but the ghosting, bokeh, and star shaped patterned the GG puts off at slower speeds will drive you nuts.

Not familiar them, and looks to be after market. It's probably cheap glass, leading to bad CA & spherical aberration.

Yes you can, but your image is going to be very distorted.
