DIY Camera stabilizer Diary w/ Pics

I have started constructing my self a steady cam, took inspiration from a couple of the other builds on here.

There aren't many DIY builds out there, so i thought i would post my progress here.

Here is where i am at so far, aluminium parts, standard bearings:

I'm using JB weld for the joints, Its pretty strong, but the HV20 isn't a heavy camera so I'm not worried.

I do plan to add some extra bits and pieces to make it stronger but i am pretty confident that will hold just fine. (I used JB weld to fix a pedal onto my unicycle and that's been rock solid for a couple of months).

The smaller bearings are just standard skate ones I think. The larger bearing is an open caged bearing. I have cleaned out the motor grease to make it run quickly. Large sealed bearings have loads of friction and are pretty useless for hand held stabilizer. I have to add two more bearings and then the gimbal is finished.

Going to work on the stage next any ideas?

Are you going to put some sort of cover over the bearing to keep dirt and contaminants out? Otherwise, great progress so far.
