DIY Cage / dolly - first attempt

This is my first attempt at a DIY dslr cage. At lot of thought went into the hole / tap layout on the plates.
I have numerous plans for extending the use of the plate beyond the dolly and cage.
The total cost of the project, for everything you see, was $46.

I was tired of feeling like you need to carry around ten different rigs to get the shots you want.
So I decided to build a rig capable of doing more then one thing. This is just two things the rig can do -
I have plans to extend it to be able to do a few more things.

It is rock solid and can handle a 5d without fear of tipping over.

It is still in rough shape and needs to be cleaned up but it is a proof of concept.

Here is a quick video showing the transition from cage to dolly

Thanks for the feedback.

No footage yet. I finished it up just minutes before I posted. It is still in need of some finishing work and I wanted to anodize all the parts.

It is still in a rough state but hope finish it over thanksgiving. I went with bigger wheels then emm did over at cheesy cam. I wanted a slightly bigger base to support larger cameras.

It was done using a miter saw and a cheap drill press I picked up at a garage sale. A hand file and some sand paper. That's it.

As for the parts.

2.5" x .5" x 11" piece of flat bar 6061 aluminum for the base plates.

6.5" x 7/8" hex bar aluminum make up the axle/handles

5/16" x 2" stainless button head bolts to attach the axle/handle

110mm scooter wheels
