Here is the link to the jib that I am building.
It has the 2 arms like the Kessler, but the arms are round.

My situation:
I have an HVX. I would like to a remote pan/tilt to the jib.
When the jib is low and I want to pan the camera, how can I get this to work
without the camera hitting the arms of the jib?
How high should I make the Pan/Tilt head.
Or should I just stick to the DSLR and call it a day.

Secondly, where the crap can I find the motors needed for this?

Any assistance would be most appreciated. :)

well even if the camera didnt hit the arms of the jib you would be shooting them so that wouldnt work. you need to have your pantilt head hanging down from the camera mounting plate. I dont understand your question about how high to make the pantilt head. how would changing to a dslr fix anything?

have you thought about motor control first? the mechanics of the head. the motors are one of the last things you need to worry about. regardless a cheap place to begin is searching low rpm gearmotor on ebay. it will give alot of cheap options. use servo city as a source for mechanical pieces such as gears and belts as well as electronics. (i dont recommend the electronics tho as they are overpriced)

servo city also sells pantilt heads have a look at what they offer as the pictures alone will help immensely in your design stage.
