That is very creative! I would like to see your shots to see how it stays on target.
(Man... just don't lean back really fast.. you know, 'action-reaction'... You'll be singing soprano!)
Instead of a 90 degree joint in front, how about swinging up a hand bent semi-circle from the back so it doesn't hit in front? That may help.
