DIY Blimp (RØDE & Rycote LYRE upgrade)

I wasn't ready to invest the 299$US (knowing that the canadian dollar is like 1,30$US) for a blimp, so I decided to "upgrade" my RØDE pistol rip I had for years now.
A 4" PVC pipe, 2 aluminum pieces, a couple screw and a pair of Rycote LYRE (because they're probably the best I've used) and here's the result:

I already had the pistol grip, otherwise it cost roughly:
PG2: 50$
Blimp adapter: 12$
Lyre set: 30$
Aluminum parts and screws: roughly 10$.
Make it 130$ with the furry, not a bad deal for something of that quality (especially the LYRE suspension).

You can get fur at a fabric store. My main problem when I did a DIY blimp was that my supporting structure was not solid enough. Seems like you've got that covered pretty well.

Using black PVC (thicker) would be a lot better, but the weight would also add to it. The white is rigid enough to support the fur, and lightweight enough to boom with it.

As you show it, you are going to get drumming. That is a reason blimps use mesh around them.

Not such a bargain, I just got one of those Proaim blimps on eBay from a company in Canada. New for $99 shipped. Maybe not up to the $300 ones, but I am not going to beat the crap out of it either.
