DIY 2 stage 4x5 mattebox

Hey All.

Not entirely finished, but close. Wanted to share with everyone my 2 stage 4X5 Mattebox. Started out as an idea just to build a lens shade for my lens adaptor, then I thought it would be easy to add two non rotating stages. I already have a polarizer that screws directly onto the lens, so non rotating works for me. Total cost is about $15. Let me know your thoughts.

Next I need to paint the mount black, ad the filter trays and make some hard mattes for my lenses. The build is super strong and was easy to do so.

No it is all built from a sheet of black plastic I purchased at TAP Plastics and assembled using some crazy strong glue. It feels super solid. I then sprayed it with a matte finish to take away the gloss of the plastic. The lens dounut is cut out from an old mouse pad.

looks good bro. If you decide to cut the side/top hood pieces into more of a trapazoid you probably wouldnt even be able to tell its diy. nice

You've got an SGPro with an HVX and a homemade mattebox resting on a block of wood...
