Disturbing Issue With Mac

Robbie Comeau

Como's back. back again
A while ago, i downloaded a program, that could get my dock transparent. So you know that grey area in your dock? I wanted it gone. So i got a program, and downloaded it. But it didn't work, so i deleted the program.

Problem: You know when you click and hold on say Safari, and a little icon will come up, saying open, quit, etc....Well that doesn't work anymore. I have been suffering with this problem for the past 5 or 6 months now. Its like that problem with my mouse. Downloaded a program to i could right click with my mouse, and now i can. But i dont want my mouse to right click anymore, so i deleted the program. I STILL CAN RIGHT CLICK! lol...

It'd be a great help! thanks!

what operating system are you on? Also, are you implying that you have one of those 1 button mice? Do yourself a favor and use that thing as a drive-by weapon on your nearest apple store, then head on down to any microsoft dealer and pick up a friggin regular mouse with a wheel.

In general, 3rd party apps that tinker with your OS are a bad idea. Many of them are released with bugs that will leave a residue even if you delete them. I would just reinstall the OS to get it clean again.

How are you 'deleting' these programs off your Mac?
Are you uninstalling them somehow, or are you just deleting the main App file?
If you are just deleting the App file, and not getting rid of the rest of the program, you could be creating quite a mess.

Also, you don't need a special program to right click - if you have a one button mouse you can just hit 'CONTROL' and click to bring up the right click menu.
But you should really tkae Derrick's advice and get rid of that one button mouse and get a 'real' one. Personally, I prefer a trackball...but to each his own.

The ONLY way to go!

I assume you're using ClearDock. I used it for years with no issues. It's not compatitble with Leopard, so I disabled it (actually, I think it disabled itself when I upgraded). I'd suggest re-downloading the programs you installed and don't want and seeing if they either have an uninstaller (many do) or have uninstall instructions in a ReadMe file.

Thanks guys. I didnt like holding down the control button to right click, so i just downloaded a right click. Now i want the control back! (I can still do it, just the mouse is annoying)
I love PC mouses.

Its called TransparntDock and i tped that in in my finder and just put it in the trash. ITs gone but its still being stupid!

That's the one thing that's always annoyed me about Mac programs (and the OS).
Most programs don't come with an uninstaller, and the OS has no uninstaller built into it (that I know of anyhow).
But that doesn't mean you can just throw the app file into the trash to get rid of most programs.
There are usually more files associated with the program than just the app file itself.

In the future you might want to use a program like AppZapper to get rid of the application file and all the other things that are associated with it.
Not sure if that's the problem - but it might be.
