Distributing short films over the internet

I have an accumalation of short films that I have made over the years that I want to put in a website. Does any one have any possible information regarding this subject, such as compression or actually creating the website? I know pretty much nothing as of now, and I was hoping you would be able to point me in the right direction. So please, anyone who has successfully distributed films on your own website, shed some light on me.

Thanks,
Adam

That's alright, I figured it out myself. I compressed the file using h.264 and AAC audio. Then, I uploaded to google video. Also, I uploaded to File Front. On my website, I have one streaming link, in which I just linked to an HTML file with the embedded video, and one download link, in which I linked to the Filefront download server.
