Yes, this was the issue. It was supposed to be a mic level feed but it was clearly a full line signal. We were taking an XLR line not 1/4". I now have a passive Whirlwind DI box with a -20db pad and a -40db barrel that I'll keep with me from here on in so hopefully I'll be covered the next time. My Mixpre6 can also take a +40db signal. Truthfully, I don't really do concerts very often.
