Hi, i did a wedding video for this couple and it looks beautiful. I have this show that i want to use a background media on the DVD title screen. I know how to do everything but im having trouble with one certain part of the video. Im using Vegas 5 by the way. The shot that is background media is starting on the cakecutter, through a table of rosepetals and ending on their cake, When it ends on the cake i want it to start fading to black but i also want while lettering to start to fade in. I have all the transitions in the right place and the letters fade in but i cannot seem to get the video to simply fade to black. The transition im using is called dissolve. . Sorry, im not so good at describing things, could anyone help me?

P.S. i already did a search and found nothing to help me out.

I wonder if you could try to grab the end of the clip you want to have the 'fade to black' activity on and drag that little pie slice thing to the left, and then overlap your letters fading in. hmmm....I dont explain things well at all. Sorry.

there are two ways you can do this. One make a new layer, grab the pie slice like thartley said and drag it to fade the video to black. Place titles in new layer, pie slice it as well to fade up.
The second way would be to make the text have a black background then simply use the cross dissolve to fade the two together. You will have more control using the first example, multiple tracks, than using the second one.

How do you get to the "Fade To Black" option and the hence referred to "Pie Slice"?
Thanks to the both of you by the way.

if you run your cursor very slowly over the top corner portion of your clip, you will see the cursor change to a pie slice looking shape. Then just click and drag. You will see a dotted slope line appear from the point of origin to the point you unclick. That is basically your fade out to black.
