Disabling effects in CS3

I'm trying to cut a project but the effects that I put a my clips are slowing my machine to a crawl. I know I can disable the effects on every used clips, but I don't want to do it one by one (there's gonna be way to many of them!). Is there an easy way to enable/disable quickly the effects on the whole projects?

Thanks!

I'm still looking for that "switch". It must exists... I'm mean, how are you guys doing it (cutting you movie without being slowed down with rendering)? Unless your waiting 'till the very end to put your effects...

I apply major effects like CC or Blurs last.

My system manages most simple fx R/T

Sometimes I will apply a major effect for a client refernce or an idea/test but toggle it off as I go.

Thanks for your reply!

I understand your workaround... I'm still wondering though if there's a global effect "switch" hidden somewhere?

If you are applying the exact same effects with the same settings, you could use a nested sequence.

If the effects are different, with different values (which they most likely are) there is no way to do that but than to select the effects panel, hit Ctrl+A or only the effects you want to disable, and then toggle one of the effects off, which will then make all the selected effects disabled or enabled.

if the effect is global (like old movie scratches or black and white ) then it's better to drop all your clips into a separate sequence and then put the effects into the sequence - easier to manage. otherwise, you kinda have to go one by one

yup i use cs3 and there is no global diable thing ive tried it try to apply all the effects you want and then render the sequenze rather than applying an effect and rendering each time
