Dirt.. a jar, of dirt.

When your hero or character's been through a lot. They tend to have smudge's of dirt everywhere. Oil here, soil there. Earth by there & cut's there.

What exactly could you use for just.. that.. 'dirt', that get's all over your talents face?

I've got 20 riding on, saying that the next reply will be..

Matty's right. Fullers Earth is the industry standard. It can be purchased in any range of colors if you get it from the right SFx/Makeup store.
 
Cheers, just checked them out. Looks good & cheap. Might just burn some wood for the hell of it, but will probably go for the Fullers Earth. :)

If your looking for black smudges you could do what stage performers did for centuries and use burnt cork. Get a bottle of wine (with a real cork , none of that screw cap ripple you usually drink ;~) ) burn the end of the cork with a match or burner etc and apply where you want it, works well costs pretty much nothing.
