Director's Viewfinder with a digital camera

Anyone ever tried or heard of a combination like this?

A director's viewfinder with a small, digital camera on the back?

Basically to let you see the shot through an LCD screen, plus the ability to capture images as the viewfinder sees them? (Seems like it'd be a very helpful tool to help out communication between the director and the DP while on-set, but I haven't been able to find anything similar yet)

I have a director's finder...but since the small form-factor camcorders (DVX, HVX etc) are so compact and convenient, I've taken to leaving the finder at home and using the camera itself for the purpose...

...for larger cameras, no, not heard tell of such a contraption, yet.
