Directors Blocking/ Written Storyboard Formatting on Scripts

Hey everyone,

Is their a proper format to write out directors notes, with the original script?

Also, what would be the proper way to write out "Storyboard" camera movements, angles...etc.?

I have also posted this in the directing forum as well.

Thank for the help!

Hi Jordan,

If the script is for yourself, sure - go for it. But it's a big no-no if you're trying to sell the script, a sure sign of a newbie and get overlooked even if it's a really good script.

The novice scriptwriter should invest in an entry-level scriptwriting book which details the do's and don'ts. Scripts aren't meant to tell a director how to do his/her job and be seen as both presumptuous and overly limiting. Sure, you could include a few critical directives, but no more.

Regards, Michael
