Hey everyone...
Ok, I am taking some advice from folks here but I am only giving myself a small part with a few lines. I wrote a script and sent it to a friend who has directed and written several features that have been made and asked him to give it a once over. He actually liked it and for free...punched up two weak spots...and he corrected all my novice mistakes.
So, I am in the very early stages of pre-production and once I figure locations and costs (already know talent budget)...I am going to list it for funding.
Here is my first question....do I go indiegogo or kickstarter? Might need to post this question on another section but I will wait to see who replies here.
Since I am directing, do you all think it is a mistake for me to do all my own casting? Should I get someone else to do the first round?
I am pre-casting the male lead but leaving the rest of the parts open. I may have a named actor for a cameo performance so I need to go find out about the SAG agreements next. I will go check some other threads where links were placed already but feel free to post them here in case my search takes forever.
One other question and this one is really for the actors...
The lead actor is organic...so is the named talent...but I know some method actors I want to audition. If any of you are method I would like to ask you how you would feel if the director asks you to drop the method during auditions? Would that be an insult? Some actors use it well and others get too carried away with it. Since some of the characters are going to be really nasty people...I don't want actors coming in acting that way and thinking I will deal with it on set.
When the camera is not rolling, I want everyone to enjoy their time together and not deal with one or two actors who think they need to live the character 24/7.
Just so you get it...one character is a child molester, one a rapist, etc etc...so I do not want to deal with an actor behaving that way when the camera is not rolling. Suggestions from any method talent?
Thanks in advance for any feedback!
Michele
