Directing Inside A Car

I'm doing a very simple short in the next couple of months. Most of the short involves a conversation between some friends inside of a car. It takes place at night, but I am concerned about lighting and how to shoot inside of a car. I need to get the driver, passenger, and the two in the back seat. Not sure what car I will use,but they are teens so nothing really flashy. Does anyone have experience or advice on how I can shoot with out making it look to cramped? I know I can shoot from the hood inside, but fear I'll cast a reflection from the windshield. Doubt I'll be able to remove the windshield. When they get out,I'll need to see the car as well. So,other than shooting with the windows open,I have no idea how to set this up. Very easy story and everything else is a piece of cake. ANY advice would be VERY helpful. Thanks!

Maybe a dumb question, but could you shoot in front of a green screen? It may take a bit more prep and post time, but could be easier to shoot.

Not sure about lighting, not really my forte, but consider taking actors out of the scene to get different angles. For instance, putting the cameraman in the front passenger seat for one shot, then in the back seat for another, taking out the actors from those seats for that particular shot. Also, a suction cup mount could be helpful for mounting the camera to windows.

I would not worry too much about lighting. They're are a lot of ways you can do it. On a shoot I was working on awhile back they set up a couple of 300s to act as side and back lights, used CTO to get that orange street lamp feel and then stuck a couple of those tiny Kino Flo on the dash board as fill. My advice to you would be to rent you the kit your planning on using for a night and set up some tests shots to see if you can get the look you want.
