Direct thread Polarizer?

Does this e-bay item have any merit?

If not, is there a good quality brand that is is able to be threaded right onto the DVX lens as this? Or is all this just a bad idea and good money should just be spent on the "right" matte box?

There is always a use for a good polarizer, I'm not sure THIS is a good one, but for the price - who could argue? I have a Tiffen Cir-P and use it all the time, it did run >$60 though. In many cases for users that are just shooting with these cameras, a matte box is overkill. If you are not using the anamorphic, just thread on some filters and start shooting.
