Diopter and Anamorphic - a la "Art History&qu

Hey Everyone,

I watched all of "Art History" last week - what a showcase for the DVX100! Nice custom rig during the credits, too - very creative shooting.

Quick question - during the second (more technical) commentary, it was mentioned that a 1x (or was it 2x?) diopter was used to film close-ups with the anamorphic adapter (close shot of a business card, for example). I was under the impression that there were no lenses that could be used with the Anamorphic. If I'm wrong, please let me know (and let me know which diopters work with the Ana adapter).

Thanks in advance - great board!

I wonder if there are 4x4 diopters that can fit in a 4x4 mattebox... I will have to look into it. ??? Century makes 86mm diopters but I don't think those are big enough to fit on the front, unless you can somehow get a 72mm diopter behind the Anamorphic without vignetting and warping...

86MM THREAD ACHROMATIC DIOPTERS & STEP-UP RINGS
AD-8616-00 +1.6 Achromatic Diopter
AD-8620-00 +2.0 Achromatic Diopter
AD-8626-00 +2.6 Achromatic Diopter

After posting this, I sent Nick (the director) an e-mail with the same question and he replied to me directly. He stated that they had to use a 6X6 matte box with the ana adapter, and a 6x6 diopter. It's the only way to get clear extreme close-ups with the ana. He mentioned on the commentary that the focus depth is only a few mm, so moving a business card for example just a hair puts it out of focus. Tough to use, but necessary for macro close ups.
