You can't use a standard dimmer with fluorescent bulbs, but that fixture has individual switches for each of the lights inside, so you can get five different levels of brightness without using a dimmer at all.

Sorry to bump this old thread, but I've heard that the Harbour Freight ones have hum issues and will only work well on incandescent bulbs? Are they safe to use on worklights, arris, lowels etc?

I have used them with a number of tungsten lighting instruments from 1K on down without incident.
My advice, buy one and try it out. If it does not meet your needs take it back. It's only $20.
