I am trying to decide which brand/type assecoires I need with the HVX and I am a bit in a dilemma on various fronts. Maybe you all can give me some advice ?
Audio : Sennheiser MKH416 or Sanken CS-1
I wanted to buy the MKH416 based on the sound samples I have heard on the internet (second option was the AT 4073a, both are relative long shotguns). However Vocas advised me not the to buy the MKH416 only because it is long and it will get into your imagefield especially when equiped with a windcover. Is this really true???????
Vocas adviced the Sanken CS-1 (short shotgun) which is of the same quality (broadcast) as the MKH416 according to Vocas. In the audio part of dvxuser I only find threads of people who are selling their CS-1 !!!!!! so maybe it is not such a good mic after all. Are there any alternative which are in the same league as the MKH416 and do not come in the imagefield of the HVX as the HVX (at least if the latter is true)???
fluid head : DV6 or DV8 (HVX200 equiped with mattbox/rails, follow focus, external mic.)
- does the panning/tilting etc. work better than using the DV6 or is it just that the DV8 can handle a few more pounds?
- is the DV8 future proof when moving up to higher end cams (e.g. HPX500)?
the price difference is about 400 Euro so not a lot but I would rather invest it in something else if the DV8 does not give more value.
Bags : Portabrace DVO-2U or Petrol PCUB-2
Again I am talking about the HVX equipped with mattbox/rails, follow focus, external mic (e.g. MKH416) and room for spare batteries/P2 cards and mabe something like a P2 store or FS. Also important is to be able to get the fully equiped HVX in and out convenient (that does not mean "fast").
Any advice/experinces/comments are very welcome
