Dilemma...

I have a story in mind and my problem is that it can work in numerous times. It can take place in the present, the future, the past, as samurais, as fantasy... You know what I'm getting at. My problem is picking one. Which do you believe is most marketable? I really do want to stay away from modern times due to the fact that most movies are present time and I would prefer a change of pace.

Edit- picture the movie The Proposition. Its a western style like that but snowy and mountainous, not australian outback.

Don't put 'marketable' first. That will trip you up every time. Story first.

Do however keep in mind production costs. If you write a scene that is likely to cost half a million to film for 1.4 minutes of screen time, that will probably kill it beyond fun reading.

Tell a really good story and forget about box office trends. They are bunked time and again. Just write sensibly.

PM with a few more details and I¿ll give my 2 cents on directions you can go.

Just PMed ya.

Most marketable is modern or future...if you are trying to sell the script. If you plan on producing it then go with the era you enjoy the most.
