Digital Voice Recorder for Ceremony Vows Demo

Interesting. Only one lav mic was used with the recorder? If so, why would that pick up all three voices whereas the live mic on the officiant only picks up his?

Perhaps the following: The lav mic picked up the groom's voice because he was wearing it and the bride's because she was facing it directly. And it picked up the officiant's amplified voice.

I'm not a sound guy so this is just a guess.

The lav on the officiant is almost certainly a cardiod and is probably being kept at a pretty low level to avoid feedback. The recorder's audio doesn't run through the PA at all, so it can be set at a higher level and get sound from everyone without worrying about feedback.

This is a comparison video showing the same clip from a wedding for sound coming out from the on-camera shotgun mic vs digital voice recorder. As you can hear when the vows were read, audience cannot really hear it because the live microphone is attached to the officiant only.

Great audio comparison but that was so depressing. Cindy has already been spoken for. Man, that really hurts.

There're times any lav mic won't work when the idiotic groom did something like that during the ceremony.

(does anybody knows how to embed the video player in DVXuser post?)
Something tells me you felt like strangling him.
