Hey Guys!
I just received this book by Chris Kenworthy through Amazon.com and thought I would let ya'll know about it. It's probably geared more the newbie/intermediate DV filmmaker, but there are "100 professional techniques for Indie and Amateur filmmakers"...
Lighting Effects (candlelight, backlighting, etc)
Camera Illusions (making twins, split focus, foreground blur, etc)
Camera Movements (dolly, fake dolly, handing off, etc.)
Editing Illusions (pass through a wall, slow mo, photo freeze, etc)
Production Effects (flickering overheads, blood impact, knife impact, etc)
Visual Efx (bluescreen, explosions, cold, etc)
Stunts
Advanced Efx
Night Shooting (parked car, bluescreen, etc.)
Weather (rain, snow, wind, etc)
Sound (impact sounds, atmostphere, etc)
Make up (old age, illness, etc)
All in all, I think there were some great tips and ideas. The techniques are illustrated well, though some of the explainations can be a little skimpy (in that it doesn't give you step by step for some of the techniques in your NLE...just "crop in your NLE"...so knowledge of your NLE or a good manual for it is a must).
I know it gave me some good info, suggestions, and ideas of new things to experiment with. A lot of you may already know all this and more, but for those who don't I recommend it. A good resource and starting point.
