Digital Still Cameras

I've been shooting on a D-100 for over 2 years now, almost 3 years actually, when I think about it.

Along with DVX a few days ago we bought Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W17 and Minolta Dynax 7D. Sony is just for all the random stuff, events where you might want to have a camera handy. It's a ~420$ 7.2 Megapixels 3x zoom small pocket-size camera. I really like it's images though, felt so outdated, when I found out, that you can now have 7MP for under 1k$ hehe
Dynax is my dad's - he used to be into photography a while ago and decided to give it another go, I guess. He chose Minolta, because he had their old film SLR with a few expensive lenses lying around and because Dynax unlike Canon EOS 20D has OIS. Seems to be pretty happy with it and according to our friend, who has mentioned Canon, the camera is awesome and blows his out of the water.

I'm still true to film at the moment. I love the feeling of going to the processing place and picking up a box of slides and looking at them in the street and seeing that they turned out excellent. (Hehe, I'm not weird, I just did this today and had told myself I'd post it cos it was a good feeling...luckily this thread was here). With digital you see your shot right then and there's no suspense about whether they are exposed correctly and whatnot. Where's the fun in that!?

Not to hijack the thread, I'll most likely get a Canon 20D when I can afford it, I do like the advantages of DSLR

I'm really considering either the Nikon D-70s or the Canon Digital Rebel XT.
According to all the sports shooters, the Canon is way better than Nikon when you shoot anything over 600 ASA - less artifacting. But, I really like the optics of Nikon. And really, a difference of two mega-pix doesn't matter a lot (Nikon is 6 and Canon is 8).
Anyone who has the Rebel care to comment on its qualities?

I'd say the *new* Digital Rebel XT is looking pretty good. 8Megapixel and some new features over the older 6.3 version, all for $999 or $899 without lense. Not too bad. That's what I'm considering anyway.

After some consideration - I think the Nikon d-70 is the way to go. It seems to white balance much better than the rebel xt, the color reproduction seems nicer. Also, the Rebel is so tiny! You would defintely need to throw a battery grip on there, unless you have very small hands. Even then, it doesn't feel right.

I'm waiting for the full frame sensors to become a bit cheaper before I take the plunge. We can't all afford Mark II's like kai.

Yeh - Kai's got the big bucks.
I have the Canon 20D and love it.

I guess you haven't heard about my night job? I'm a columbian drug lord. Pays the bills.

ps: that's a joke. I don't want any feds busting down my door. I'm a cracka... with no little airplane full of drugs, or guys following me around with AK's... as cool as that would be.

I found a photo of Kai!

Yeah...I saw that one too.

I didn't think this one fit the description of "Columbian Drug Lord" too well:
