Digital recorder and micros

I am looking for a portable digital recorder to connect a lavalier and cannon.

How about this combination?

- MARANTZ PMD 661
- Sennheiser MKE 2
- Rode ntg 3.

Well a "Cannon" is a piece of artillery used to fire big pieces of metal, and I don't think you'd want to connect a lav to one of those. "Canon" is a camera brand that makes hundreds of cameras, but isn't too specific.

What model of camera are you using?
What are you recording? (interviews, short films, ect...)
Do you have a boom operator? Budget?

Sorry. I was referring to a short gun microphone.

The camera I have is a Canon 7D. The use would be for a short film. The budget is around 2000 dollars. I would like a quality team.
