digital noise.

I believe I have a system configuration audio problem.

When I play back the sound through my speakers from my camera I hear no static but when I import it into an editing app( avid/ fcp and even imovie) look what I get...

Any suggestions on hardware that I would need to purchase would be extremely helpful. New sound card?? audio interface?? I just need the static to go away.

Thanks!

sounds like traffic noise, but then I'm listening on my laptop. I don't hear anything that sounds like "digital" noise.

I'd have to agree with Scott - that sounds like traffic noise, not "digital". Had a similar situation on a shoot a few months ago - we shot in a location next to the freeway. The director called me irate because of the "hum" in my sound - I listened and all I heard was traffic noise and told her so (as I had told her on set - I even suggested a couple of establishing shots with the freeway in the background, which she ignored).

You can try applying a bit of noise reduction to see if that helps.

i hear the traffic but what about those pops and snaps especially at the end?? I only hear them after I import them into an editing suite. MY computer is extremely noisy and picks up all sorts of signals. It's wild as soon as my mac goies to sleep (if my volume is up) I hear radio stations. When I have my headphones on with no audio playing I hear snaps and crackles as well.
