I just received my two digital juice slyders, when I slide the carriage back in forth they both make a scraping sound..... I've loosened the brakes... Am I doing something wrong or is anyone else noticing this noise?

Also does anyone know about the quality of their c-stands? I want to order some but I'm concerned due to the quality of the slyder.

In the high end of production Avengers are considered low end options. They are not bad but they are heavy and as they are metric the parts are not exchangable with any others. This is probably not a problem unless you are a rental house.

Dang! ...I had planned on buying the 40" version of this slider later this year.

Have you talked to the Digital-Juice folks about the scraping noise ?

I'm going to call Digital Juice today.
I have two avenger c stands, one of the knobs on a grip head bent, and they are too heavy. I'm probably going to get some matthews.

There are OK, but definitely not for commercial uses. And yes there are heavy as hell.
Matthew's is the best option and have the highest estimated resale value even after 20 years.

I talked to someone at Digital Juice today, they were super helpful. They said the sliders do make some noise, they chose to make them as smooth sliding as possible over being quiet. They said the would take them back if I wanted. I might send one back. They seem to be solidly made.

That seem like a pretty lame response to me, except for the part about taking a return. "Ya we made them noisy on purpose so they would be smooth" What?

Recieved mine today!!!! finally!!!!!

Recieved mine today!!!! finally!!!!!

Well it took alot longer than i expected to get the slyder dolly and mine finally came in today. I dont whats worse waiting for this or a 3930K cpu. It was packaged great, nothing came damaged. The first thing I did was to check the noise that you said you were getting. My mouth dropped after reading your first post. I adjusted the brake to off and started playing with the slyde , going back and forth. I have the 40inch version with i thought was a better bargain. I dont know how they came up with $400 extra dollars for 20 inches so i opted for the 40 incher and hope that it will be enough slide for what ever work i do.

I found that if i slide the mechanism for left to right fast that yes it is loud but i dont know if anyone would ever want to do that. For what i feel is the normal speed of operating a slider this slider is quit. Its my first slider but ive researched many before this purchase. I cant wait to get the high hat on and put my 25 lb rig on this bad boy. Its built tough and seems like it can handle alot of weight which i needed.

Well, today I ordered a DigitalJuice Slyder Dolly. I have several DJ products and
have always been impressed with the quality. I have been looking at different
sliders, have even thought about building one but this slider looks good for the money.
I’ll keep you posted.

I recently got a SlyderDolly, and yes, it is noisy. It's not the track, its surface is perfectly smooth. What I hear are rotational vibrations that are likely due to imperfections in the roller and/or ball bearing surfaces. This thing glides smoothly, but it's metal-on-metal, which is never going to be quiet.

But is it silky smooth, that's the first question surely for a slider, can you push it free and get a frictionless travel?
Quiet is surely what you pay the extra for up the price scale.

That MYT is beautiful, and I'm sure whisper quiet, but it's also a step up in price.

And if I stepped up to that price I'd want to future proof myself with a medium instead of a small, and then the price goes up again.
But it's something to dream of in the future, along with a Porta-Jib traveller...

Do you get your shots with your Slyder, and did it answer the questions you bought it for?

I received my Digital Juice Slyderdolly today. Haven’t had time to shoot anything but I had to try it out. It’s very smooth, I consider that essential. As for the noise, yes if you use it for a whip pan it’s loud but a slow truck or dolly it’s not bad, not totally quiet but quiet enough. I would think that if you are going to go to the trouble to set up a slider then you probably wont be using a camera mounted mike. It’s very well built, I think my large ancient Bogen tripod might support it from the center, even using my HPX-370.

I like adding a slight small amount of pressure with the brake. I feel it glides alittle better that way. Anyone do any footage with their spyder yet? I'm still waiting on a 3930k chip so I can't review any footage captured until i get my pc up and running
