Digital Cinema Filmmaker's Course DVDs -- worth the $ ?

[Randall_Oelerich]

I learned of this set of DVDs for learning filmmaking-- anybody have some input on if the DVD set is worth the cost? I was at first thinking of attending Dov's course (have read it book several times) or buying his DVD set, then learned of this DVD set from Digital Cinema. Wondering if it is really worth the cost.

It's very different from Dov's course. It focuses almost entirely on the production side of things. It would certainly be helpful for the beginner to watch, but it's probably not worth it for the intermediate or experienced filmmaker.

I am amateur (only done a couple of shorts), so sounds like it would not be too basic for me. I wonder if I could sell it used after I am done with it-- can't seem to find it used anywhere, including a search here on dvx. If I could buy it for $430 (ebay) then sell it even for half that, my net cost would only be around $200. My goal would be to learn a bit more about filmmaking with the goal of producing an indie feature down the road.
