Digital Cinema Desktop Preview Problem

so i'm running FCP 5.1 and i have the whole dual monitor set up. When i got my second monitor, i set up the ditigal cinema desktop preview for my second monitor. It worked great... until now.

For some reason when i go into this mode, my second monitor goes black, but does play back the footage. It just stopped working and i have no idea why. I recently did a 'software update' but i cant remember what all i updated.

Does anyone have any suggestions? i did try shutting down a few times, hitting 'refersh AV devices', trying 'single frame' instead of 'all frames', etc.

its driving me crazy, thanks for any help.

Does the 2nd monitor work OK on other occasions, ie NOT in FCP?

Use FCP Rescue to trash your prefs.

Reset your monitors to something else in both the Monitors control panel, and in FCP, reboot, change back to your desired settings, reboot.
