Difficulty to capture full quality video in FCP.. (pics included)

I currently run Final Cut Pro 6, the latest one, and it was a switch from working on Sony Vegas 7. In Vegas, my captured footage looked amazing as I could compress it into many formats after I was done editing it. Now working on Final Cut seems a bit more technical into capturing the best quality video from a DVX-100a. I have tried various formats stated by many users on this site and even the uncompressed 8bit or 10bit looked pix elated. The use of the video that I am trying to capture is for a full quality dvd and to put it up on the web at its highest quality. Think of the "movie trailers" on the web at high quality. I would gladly appreciate any information...

So here is a bit of information on the equipment and software I have
-Panasonic DVX-100a
-JVC DV Deck SR-VS30
-Final Cut Pro 6
-MacPro
-The footage was shot in 24p

Here are the pictures of the Audio/Video setting in which I have Final Cut originally set by:

Capture in DV-NTSC using the Easy Setups from your File Menu. There is no 'better' quality to be had. You shot DV at 5:1 compression, selecting another codec to dub it to adds zero extra detail or resolution. Don't reinvent the wheel. Read the FAQ for dealing with 24pA issues:

ps- heheh you don't need to film your screen. Shift Apple 3 will do the same thing...

LoL... thanks for the screen grab trick. I also came across that post searching for information but noticed it was from 2005 so I wasn't sure if that still applied to today's FCP version. Since I'm still learnin the curves to FCP, it'll take some time for me to get used to it. What would you recommend, as in readings, to learn FCP, Color, and Compressor faster? So far I have been readin the manuals to understand the different terms compared to Vegas...

Well you could always buy my DVD- that would help a lot. Otherwise yeah- you read the manual and you can get the Peachpit Press books.
