difficult green screen

Ok, I generally know how to light a green screen but here is the million dollar question.

Is there any way to pull a decent key on a green screen floor? especially if the talent is say...breakdancing on it?

I was thinking of painting the floor or paint sheets of wood but the problem would be the moving shadows of the actor since he may be breakdancing or perhaps doing martial arts.

I can't think of any way to evenly light this. Has anyone had any luck on this matter even with lots of shadows? I saw ultra2 on serious magics website and it looks like it may be able to pull this but has anyone had any experience with this software?

It's certainly doable. Here's a shot where the characters are laying on the screen. This was comped with the Keylight plugin that comes with AE Pro:

The two big things to contend with are the shadows and green "spill" reflected on the subjects.

You'll make your life much easier if you can have your performers wearing all black clothing. This provides the best contrast with the greenscreen for keying, and also makes it much easier to "get the green out". The more color variation in your foreground subjects, the more challenging it will be to get a clean result.

Good luck.

thanks a lot guys, and the footage is looking pretty nice. Do you guys have any suggestions of what I can use for the ground green since they will be doing a lot of dancing and martial arts on it? thanks again for the replies guys.

i would not record/shoot to 4:1:1 media .. use at least a 4:2:2 format ...

i'm looking at some green screen now that was shot on digibeta and it looks excellent .... no problem getting a good key in Combustion 4 or Ultra 1 ...
2 days ago i was looking at a dvcam copy of the digibeta and i could not get a clean edge on lighted side of face or the hair ... no luck with combustion4, Ultra 1or 2 .. the best was primatte keyer BUT still not passable = spent 1 1/2 hr trying to key the DVcam clips ...
had it down in less then 10 min with digibeta ( 10 bit uncompressed thru decklink card) clips ....

damn...all I got is my DVX100a digibeta is a little too expensive for my non budget self. But I thought ultra2 was specifically designed for DV? I would imagine getting a key with the new HVX would probably even make it easier right?
