i've never used fcp and am very familiar with cs4. for those who use both what are some of the main differences?

FCP operates slightly differently behind the scenes. In terms of editing, you'll be able to fit right in within a week. If you do run into technical issues, you'll want to consult some FCP gurus since the back-end tends to be different.
Honestly, I use to switch between FCP and Premiere Pro a few years ago on a daily basis depending on the client I was working for. I still preferred Premiere Pro's interface even though it was almost exactly the same.
