Difference between bleached unbleached muslin

I was wondering what is the difference in the way that these two types of fabric diffuse light? And I was wondering if it is effective to put in an extra layer silk behind the muslin.

Thanks.

unbleached will be warmer than bleached.
its common to double diffuse light or bounce it and then diffuse if that is the quality of light you are wanting.
you will need much bigger lights for this.

Mostly the difference lies in the color cast by the muslin itself. Bleached muslin will cast a white light, rather the color of the source, and unbleached muslin tends to have a bit of a warming effect, like adding a 1/4CTO to your source.

Muslin is definitely a light eater, but yields very soft lighting at close distance. If you want really soft light I would recommend two frames of Grid cloth together. it will be as soft as muslin and will distribute the light more evenly than muslin does.
