die laptop die

Charli

cool little "title"
I accidentally broke the power connector on my laptop, that little plastic thingy
you see on the Sony Vaio systems (which by the way cost $50 to replace).
Just to get that little sucker back on the laptop it cost me $45 an hour, that's
$200 later.

Well, looks like my hard drive is having a little tizzy in rebuilding (done that many
times before) and that means I have to take the laptop back to the tech. All
I want to do is sell that laptop and it looks like by the time I'm finished, I'll
break even in repairs. I can't tell if it's worth it.

Die laptop die! I hate Sony right now.

You know...I shouldn't really condemn people for having brand loyalty....because when it comes to SONY, I have brand UNloyalty....

I think SONY always makes a real good and competitive product....their design team is second to none...but after a bit of time...their products fail...they go kerplunk...and I hate that. I have a buddy who had 3 SONY Trinitron 19" monitors each die within a years time...he had to switch brands. And, I can understand why he was lured...the picture was so gorgeous...if not fleeting....

I myself bought a few SONY Walkmans a while back for the gym...each one sucked....I had an overpriced one chip sony mini dv camera...the picture, for a one chip, was phenomenal, but after a year and a half...the firewire port burned out and whats worse, the camera began to have a bit of a motor noise, easily picked up by the onboard camera...making it USELESS. Sure, I could use it to view footage on the TV...but to capture? NOPE. To Film? Nope!

I am really a big fan of avoiding SONY at all costs. I think they spend way too much on design and the "look" and "dynamics" of their products, but not much on quality control. But thats just in my humble experience....

It seems SONY has quite the loyal following...and it seems they have cashed in on what I feel is their overblown reputation.

Sorry about your woes Charli....

I probably own around 50 electronic devices of which three are Sony and they are no better or wose than the other 47 they just cost more. I think Sony is owned by Apple!

However, let it be said that for every bad story about sony or whatever brand there are probably at least a few stories with high praise for it. Discovery channel once described how they put a sony PD170 15 feet away from an underground fire, and the entire cam's outer casing melted - yet it still worked and the footage was entirely usable.

Oh, how about brand unloyalty to Dell and their amazing exploding lappies. When you buy sony, maybe you waste money. When you buy Dell, you die(literally)

Buy and Die:D

I hate theri "lets make something almost perfect but then cripple it with a crapy excuse for what we left out....... CF24..... ( but then if you want real 24p/Xlr Ports/theability to record the video you shoot.... you have to spent 5bagillion dollars more....)

Yea. I dont know why Sony is afraid of 24p. They say that their cameras are not meant for independent films, but they offer CF24. Imagine the sales they'd get with a Z1U with 24p.
