Didn't know it really happened

yesterday, i was shooting a Group of Hip hop dancers for a new reality show,
(they are trying out for it and making a demo reel)

they wanted 60i to capture the full motion and so they got 60i.

During a break one of the girls was just freestyling , so snapped to 24P and was just playing around, and i shot her . During the playback, ( the guy dragged a 30" tv to the dance studio to watch the playback immediatly after it wa shot)

after teh dancing, it went tothe 24P segment, and across teh room i heard it,

" WOW! that looks liek a real Movie!"

i dunno i didint think people said that in real life.

just thought it was funny.

PS dancers were hot

I got a similar reactions from friends when they first saw 24p footage. We just went out onto our deck and shot some test stuff, brought it back in and a few people walked by when we wre reviewing it and said "Whoa, that looks like a real movie."

Good times.

I am still amazed at this gift from the DV Gods called 24p. When I watch LUPER (The DVX FEST short) Full Screen on Power DVD it is just damn cool looking and on PAR with the movie SAW; the visuals NOT the CALIBER.

Why anyone would shoot 60i is still beyond me.

I keep saying that to myself when I see stuff other people in this area do. It just doesn't make sense.

Have you noticed how Minnesota is anti panasonic, and pro canon and sony... I went to National Camera the other day and they were pressuring this poor sucker to buy an XL2... this was a guy that just wanted to shoot family events - no need for any real 16:9 or real long telephoto...

Whatever

Poor guy will be at the family picnic lugging around that beast and juggling a beer in the other hand.

Disclaimer:

This is not a DIS on the XL2. Jeez.

Bwhahahah.

Totally; I go to Wal-MArt for one reason; to check their 10.00 DVD Bin and to make fun of the White Trash.

DISCLAIMER

THis is a not a DIS on anyone here that actaully goes to Wal Mart in having no other other alternative store; in my neighborhood; there's a Target (Pronounced TAR ZSHAY') and Wal MArt across the street and the people that go there SCARE me. Jeez.

Totally. Most of the people I run into think that Canon is the only way to go. I say "DVX" and they look confused.

Its better for Dancers cause the motion is smoother. they are all about motion, and want the motion to be as fluid as possible. One modern dancer i know, when i shot her rehearsal in 24P said it looked great but....... then i showed her the 24P , and she got kinda ticked cause it wasntas smooth as 60i.

some people like standard video. I on the other hand cannottake the switch off of 24p. And im not even a filmmaker.

It just makes Video art look expensive and impressive.

I will posta grab of the dancers ( i thought they were hot, haha) in a little while, i havent logged the footage yet.

speaking of saw i pass an oppertunity to shoot with the dp last night... for grave dancers as 2nd ac....

please pardon the quality of grabs, instead of logging the images, i used the Stil lapture feature from my TRV-70 to just grab a 640x480 still from the tape directly. it was quicker that way. plus its interlaced.
