None of those fit. I'm not paranoid, and I wasn't particularly worried about the camera "dying young," as that's not the norm. I did because it's just a smart move.
Well, I'm not trying to sound like a butthead or anything, but if camcorders don't have a habit of dieing young, then why is getting the warranty a smart move?

Ah, gotcha. You know, I was going to include "Yup, for peace of mind." I suppose that would have been the category you would have used, eh? I'll see if I can change the poll.
Extended warranties are a cheap and simpl way for companies to make money. I would never ever buy one. Read up on this from consumer reports and other reliable soruces and you will find the same opinion.
man after my last last camera went to the shop for the 3rd time I was happy that I spent an extra $200 on a warrenty, the heads alone would've been way more and when the ccd went. it stuck the idea that a warranty is note optional but necessary. My cousing had his ccd on his gl1 go after 14 month's but the extended warranty fixed that. I only hope that nothing goes wrong but if you're using your camera your going to have problems eventually. Plus theres a authorized panny service centre in my city. so no sending away
I didn't buy the MACK extended warranty because of all the horror stories that I heard about their service. I had a collegue of mine that had a MACK warranty on his camera, he sent it in and it took 8 weeks to get it back. The total estimated cost for the repair was around $400 wich sounds like a lot of money, but not if you can make three times that in one weekend WITH the camera. I'm sure that some day I may have some problem with my camera, however, i would rather have fast service that costs a couple hundred, even a thousand, than be two months without my camera. IF you read the fine print on the MACK warranty it says that service may take 6 to 10 weeks for repair. NO THANK YOU!
That and I would say that 90% of the problems that people have been having with this camera, in particular, occur in the first month after purchase or are not covered by the extended warranty anyway. So whats the use if your going to have to pay for it anyway. I have never heard of ccd's going bad in a dvx and I have yet to hear of someone that has completely warn out the heads.
I'm sure that it does bring a piece of mind to those that buy it, and I'ts definatly great when you get to use your warranty, but I"m just content with "knock knock knock" overprotecting my camera like my unborn son. ;D
I don't know how many of you have American Express Cards, but when you make a purchase with it, they extend the warranty coverage themselves absolutely free, just for being a card member. I know they extend it for at least a year, sometimes more. I have the Blue card. Not too hard to get, and definitely a wise investment. It's also the best card to use when making purchases with online stores or ebay (paypal). Amex covers your ass very well when it comes to disputes. Just thought some of you might like to know. Have a swell day.
