Did someone say easy?

so if i were to go the century optics achromatic diopter route, then my setup would be like this?

thortube (female) => 52mm to 58mm step-up ring => Achromatic Diopter Lense => 58mm to 72mm coupler (male-male) => DVX

I guess the question now is which achromatic should I get? +1, +2, +4, +7
I think +7 right?

I must sound like a total noob.

The setup would be the same. The AD is threaded just like the macro's.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

So it would go just like the tutorial shows.

Thanks guys. I ordered a +7 from B&H. Do I need a condensor lense as well or can I make do without?

Whether or not you'll need a condenser depends on your GG (or focusing screen if you use one of those). The Nikon D screen has a built in condenser, which is nice. If you're getting a big hotspot on your GG then you'll be better off pairing it with a condenser. If you have questions let us know. Good luck!

Heard the beattie screens are very fragile and scratch really easily.

True, but they have edge-to-edge brightness and clarity. If you can afford them and treat them gently they will be an awesome screen.

I am in the process of accumulating all of the parts to build my adapter, and so far, so good. The only thing I can't seem to get my hands on is the Nikon D Screen. Does anyone know where I could find one because everywhere I look seems to be backordered/out of stock. Thanks!

Check with Lafferty. He's selling some of his screens. Both pro and standard I do believe. I could be wrong. Other than that, good luck finding one. It's almost easier to get struck by lightning than getting your hands on a D screen. If you have any other questions, just ask.

Also guys, I've updated the links. The guy that I bought the br-3 from on ebay doesn't seem to have anymore in stock.
So I posted the link to BH's site for the Br-3. The cost isn't $170.00 it's actually around $70.45. That includes an extra retaining ring as well. That's an extra $9.00 in your pocket if you don't get that. Setting it down to almost less than $60.00
That does not include the GG(diffuser) shipping or the macro's. Mostl likely the macro is going to be an achromat instead to get rid of the
Chromatic Abberation.

Yes on occassion you'll find a D screen go for like 40 bucks on ebay. I happened to not win that auction.

Not sure how much difference there will be fore the optosigma 1500 gg vs. the nikon D. Looking at the video link of the optosigma... it looked a little soft to me. Maybe that was the intended effect, i dunno.

The 58mm century optics achromats cost around 199 at B&H. Not sure if you need a condenser.

So, are you saying that the tube assembly you're using comes in at $70.45? I'm not sure what you're getting at here. If so that's not bad.

Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it. This is probably a dumb question, but are there any particular lenses that you guys reccomend for this adapter? I'm a film student, so I can't really afford too much. I just need a lense that would be practical for various situations. Thanks again!

That's tube, br3-mount and two retaining rings for $70.45.

i think you might be able to get away without one if you make your own chopstick-like rig using wires.
