Did someone say easy?

Here you go. Also, I was wondering if you bought your BR-3 yet. If you need one I happen to have an extra. If you're interested PM me, if not it's totally cool. Good luck with your adapter. Looking forward to seeing it.

i wonder why it didn't show up on b&h when i looked for it? i might have searched for it weird. thanks. i'll pm you to see what's up.

Wow, good call Car3o. I've been looking for a cheap spanner wrench. I thought the one from B&H was quite a bit.

Question about Static and SD footage

Question about Static and SD footage

I'm new to the whole 35mm adapter talk. I've read almost all the discussion about Jim's product and I'm a little confused as to what is meant by the GO35SD being "static?" How does it differ from the PRO in this regard? And is there any test footage of the SD ($206) version on the site? All I've seen is footage from the PRO.

Thanks

I can reply on my thread, but have to let Jim or someone else
do the honors on his.

Jims adapter footage for the SD can be seen on his site.

www.go-35.com

look under demo's.

His pro is just a better Diffuser he's using which "almost" elimanates all
the grain seen in the SD.

Both his pro and SD are static.
In a nutshell Pro and SD are same as in what they do, but Pro is better quality.
Hope that makes enough sense.

i'm sorry for being such a retard on here, i do greatly appreciate all the help given. i have a question. i'm not sure if i'm reading the chart correctly on figuring out the distance the diffuser should be. i am going to have a nikon f1.8 35mm lens hooked on the Br3 to the dvx100a. so, if i'm reading this correct, the focus screen should be 12.29mm from the br3 mount? (that's looking at the D mount on the chart). am i correct? thanks in advance.

okay...i toggled between the nikon F distance and the D mount distance. when my br3 comes in, i'll give it a whirl. thanks alot!

my br3 is being shipped, so i'm almost there! now, after having the adapter attached, will the viewfinder show it normally or upside down? and if it is upside down, do you think somehow working a little mirror inside the adapter would help?

Upside down. That's out of my hands. Even the pro's are working hard to get the flip trick working. From what I've heard just use a magnet?

if you don't mind me askin, what are the advantages of having a 3 inch tube and the macros mounted inside?

If it were me i'd prefer to have a shorter adapter opposed to a longer one even if it's just an inch longer.

I was addressing everyone actually who might be knowledgable on this adapter design.

I was just asking about the virtues of mounting a macro lense inside the longer tube as opposed to screwing it in the back of the shorter 2inch tube.

Also the diameter of the thortubes is 52mm correct? The reason I ask is cause i'm in the process of trying to find the correct adapter rings and lenses etc.

yes the thortube is 52mm. female one side, male on the other. i'm reading other DIYs, and it seems that some people have switched it up and are using an achromatic diopter instead of the macro for less aberation and light loss. i'm going the cheap route first.

The reason I'd rather put the macro's inside the tube is just to make the
overall appearence more professional. I don't like a bunch of letters
or name brands all over my 35mm adapter. Putting the glass inside is just
what I chose to do. It has nothing to do with quality or making it work better.
Ova said something about having the macro's too close to the GG....if that's ever a problem, just get retaining rings to space out the Macro's from the GG. I haven't heard a lot of complaints about having your Macro's to close to the diffuser.

I hope this is helpful.

If it's a F mount, it should work. I've heard problems about EIS (canon) lenses or something that you have to do a trick
to work to get the aperature set properly because it's electronic. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

your right about the canon. you have to mount it to the camera body and do something to trick it so you can adjust the aperature. kinda sucks.

cool thanks for the info.

I just got my thorlabs tubes. They sent me a snack box filled with candy along with my order. Very cool company imo.

So far i've attached my br3 to the tube. Now i'm in the process of buying a Screen. Anyone know the difference between a nikon D screen and an E screen. I might also try to use a aol cd case for now.

I also need to find a macro. I guess i'll look into the achros.

Thanks again for the info guys.
