hi guys i bought a dvx100a from a copany named stop4camera.com and it is in route acording to UPS. hopefully when it arives i dont discover upon opening that its filled with baby books. Which leads me to my questiopn. Anyone know if this is a reputable dealer, they didnt include magic bullet software, so does anyone know where i can get the best price on that. the company sold it with a usa manufacturers waranty and on their website they said they have no affiliation with the manufacturer, they buy everything third hand and therefore offer no warranty themselves. will panasonic support a usa manufacturers warranty? im trying to put together a whole package of the dvx100a with the widescreen lens some extra batteries and a shotgun/boom mic kit. any help suggestions or warnings really would help. this is my first post and i love the site, filmmakers supporting eachother like it should be. i live in CA.

They are not authorized, so I doubt highly you'll get a real waranty. They have a horrible rating (http://www.resellerratings.com/seller5665.html).

Get your batteries from this site. For everything else, either EVS (my preference) or B&H.

If it doesn't include MBE in the box, then it didn't come from Panasonic USA, which means no warranty.

If they said it included the USA manufacturer's warranty, but it doesn't include MBE, then they're liars. Only cameras from Panasonic USA will get warranty coverage at USA Panasonic service centers. And every camera that comes from Panasonic USA includes MBE in the box.

damn so being that i live in CA what should i do about repairs if needed, i bought it for 2995 which included shipping. and how do i get magic bullet now? could it be that they had this camera from before panasonic was offering mbe and thats why? and what is a good mic boom set up for like around 500 bux and where can i get the widescreen lens for a good price thats reputable.

It's probably a foreign model, meaning it was sold to a foreign distributor, who then resold it to the company you bought it from.  The same thing happened to me.  So I now a have a perfectly valid warranty, if I want to ship it to Japan for repairs.  If you e-mail panasonic with the serial number (under the viewfinder) they can tell you from whence it came.

does it need repairs often and if it is from another country panasonic wont repair it?

No it hasn't needed any yet. A panasonic dealer will work on it if I needed it, but I'd have to pay for it.
